Gateway 2025
14W x 14H x 129L ft.
laser, acrylic lens, stainless steel, sensors, custom software, speakers

Gateway is a sequence of modular steel arches that shape light into passageways. Each structure carries laser projectors and custom optics that transform divergent beams into parallel planes, revealed by a fine mist. Installed along a path on Jubail Island beside a quiet mangrove reserve, the work unfolds as a slow procession through night.

Visitors move beneath successive thresholds as luminous sheets gather and fall around them. The space is alive. Wind draws the light into drift, humidity thickens it into atmosphere, and at times the field closes into a near-whiteout. The experience can feel like passing through a waterfall or a cloud.

This immersive artwork was commissioned by Public Art Abu Dhabi for the second edition of Manar, a public light art exhibition held in the UAE from November 2025 - January 2026.
